FAQ

Rehear mode is a hearing compensation mode exclusively developed by Rehear. Through a unique circuit design, it will be able to listen to surrounding sounds with lower latency and a wider frequency range. In addition, the Rehear mode can also compensate for the user's hearing loss, allowing the user to hear the original sound again.

Among Rehear's product functions, AI is only used while adjusting parameters. The main function is to convert the compensation parameters into filter parameters in the chip. With the help of AI, we will be able to adjust the compensation curve more meticulously. In normal mode, Rehear mode, and remote streaming signals (phone calls, music), AI is needed to calculate user parameters. However, AI does not need to perform real-time calculation while listening to the sounds, so there will be no power consumption or the problem of computing power.

Rehear's hearing test undergoes both acoustic and clinical validation, ensuring the reliability of the entire testing process. If a customer opts for Rehear's chips, we provide a series of volume calibration SOPs. These SOPs write hardware parameters into the chip, achieving accuracy levels similar to those achieved during Rehear's initial testing level.

Active noise cancellation(ANC) is a common feature in true wireless Bluetooth earphones. It allows users to enjoy music and take calls without being disturbed by environmental noise. However, high-end hearing aids also have the need for streaming music and answering calls via Bluetooth, but they struggle to isolate external noise interference. To address this demand, Rehear's products equip will turn on ANC during audio streaming, enabling users to focus on their music and calls. However, the algorithms for ANC can affect the accuracy of hearing compensation. To address this issue, Rehear's research and development team has significantly reduced the impact of active noise cancellation on hearing compensation through proprietary algorithms. Therefore, Rehear's chips enable users to enjoy music and phone calls quietly and clearly.

When the sound is enhanced by the chip, a delay will occur when it is played back to the user. If the delay is high, the user will feel that the sound weird and a bit hoarse. Currently, the lowest delay seen in the hearing aid chip is 0.6 ms. In Rehear's exclusive Rehear mode, we can even reach an industry-leading level of 0.2 ms, providing users with the best sound quality.

The 441 adjustable channels greatly surpass the current industry standards. While this level of precision allows for a closer match to the user's target gain curve, such a large number may seem overwhelming to adjusters. However, thanks to Rehear's exclusive AI-assisted technology, adjusters only need to sketch out their desired gain curve, and AI will automatically convert it into chip parameters. There's no need for adjusters to manually tweak each channel, as is the case with traditional hearing aids. With AI's assistance, this significantly reduces the time and effort required for adjustments and results in a higher quality listening experience for users.

Rehear's chips offer hearing compensation for streaming audio, allowing for clearer and crisper sound when listening to music or talking on the phone. Additionally, Rehear's products can activate ANC while streaming audio, enabling users to focus on their music and calls. This feature is unprecedented in hearing aids because ANC algorithms typically affect the accuracy of hearing compensation. However, Rehear's research and development team has significantly minimized the impact of ANC on hearing compensation through proprietary algorithms. Therefore, Rehear's chips enable users to enjoy music and phone calls with quiet and clear sound quality.

Rehear has identified four common noise scenarios for customer selection: commuting (train/bus), aviation, café (human voices), and blended noise – all typical situations in our daily lives. Rehear will adjust the parameters based on the prototypes provided by the customer, which can then be programmed into the product. Additionally, if customers wish to customize adjustments for other noise scenarios, they can discuss this further with Rehear.

Sampling rate refers to how many data points are used to record one second of sound waves. Therefore, a higher sampling rate can capture more details in sound, providing a more nuanced and refined audio experience. Rehear's exclusive 625k high-quality mode takes the audio source from Bluetooth streaming (44.1 kHz) and, through upsampling technology, uses interpolation to determine where to insert additional sampling points between existing ones. This increases the sampling rate to 625k, resulting in a more detailed and rich sound.

Typical active noise cancellation (ANC) systems often combine feedforward and feedback microphones to reduce external noise effectively. However, to maximize the benefits of ANC algorithms, further parameter adjustments are usually required based on the specific headphone's mechanics. Rehear's expertise in ANC parameter adjustments allows us to assist customers in achieving even deeper noise reduction depth than what the original default parameters offer.

Standard ANC parameters cannot effectively optimize noise reduction depth for specific noise environments, often resulting in suboptimal performance when facing different noise conditions. Rehear's expertise in ANC parameter adjustments allows us to fine-tune ANC algorithms to achieve the best noise reduction depth for specified environmental noise. We have pre-selected four common noise environments for customers to choose from: commuting, aviation, café, and blended noise modes. If customers have specific noise environments in mind, we are open to discussing further customization options.

In the selection and fitting of clinical hearing aids, a higher number of adjustable frequency channels often corresponds to more advanced models. This is because having more adjustable spectral channels allows audiologists to make finer adjustments to the gain curve, aligning it more closely with the specific hearing needs of the individual with hearing loss. Rehear's exclusive 441 adjustable channels, which lead the industry, offer a groundbreaking listening experience for individuals with hearing loss.

The superimposition of system processing delay with external sound leaking into the ear canal can result in a comb filter effect. This can cause users to perceive their own voices as muffled and hoarse, ultimately leading to difficulties in adapting to the hearing aid's sound quality. Rehear, through its exclusive circuit design and AI assistance, has reduced the Rehear mode signal delay to an industry-leading 0.2 ms. This substantial reduction significantly minimizes the comb filter effect, ensuring that the sound quality of the hearing aid remains as clear and vibrant as the original sound.

Rehear achieves a 22% reduction in power consumption for the Rehear mode through its exclusive circuit design and AI assistance compared to traditional signal processing. In Rehear mode, users can benefit from not only ultra-low latency and wide frequency range sound but also extended usage time, making it a highly efficient and versatile solution.
